Restless Dreamer
Written in Summer of 1998 (and added to in 2007) by Michael Giammatteo

Restless Dreamer – is about our first inklings that all wasn’t right. We were seeing regression and none of the Doctors we’d taken him to were even acknowledging it. Our story is similar to many, in that we expressed concerns about loss of language to our pediatrician who told us not to worry. Stop pressuring him to talk. To this day I am upset about the many months we wasted taking the advice of a doctor who wouldn’t listen to what the parents were saying. I originally got the idea for this song while watching my boy toss and turn in his sleep.

The recording heard on the CD was done in the Spring of 2007. We had recorded this song previously (back in 1998) but I wasn’t happy with the recording. I redid most of the vocals, then David redid the bulk of the guitars & the bass, then Matt laid down new drums over the track. When I finally mixed it, 90% of it was newly recorded. Only a few of my guitar tracks & backing vocals were original.

Musicians:
David: bass, guitars
Michael: vocals, keyboards, guitars
Matt: drums

RESTLESS DREAMER

I can tell that something’s wrong, my boy
You don’t answer when I call your name
You simply look away

I know something’s going on, my boy
It’s like you’ve crawled into a shell
Withdrawn into yourself

Restless Dreamer, I can take you through the night
Restless Dreamer, There’s a way to make it right

I’m noticing a change, my boy
You never even talk no more
You’ve seemed to close the door

Restless Dreamer, I can take you through the night
Restless Dreamer, There’s a way to make it right

Where did you go and hide?
Won’t look in my face, boy
Staring into space, boy
Like someone crept inside
Stole away our old boy
Took away your soul, boy

Things are getting strange, my boy
I need a new reality
To repair your malady

Restless Dreamer, I can take you through the night
Restless Dreamer, There’s a way to make it right
